Das Neumann Haus Museum

Hermann Neumann migrated from Germany with his parents and brothers in 1884. He met and married Annie Schermuly in Ipswich in 1885. Annie was of English and German descent and had left England to come to Australia on a working holiday (she was the ship's interpreter).

Queensland Military Museum

The locality holds over 5000 items relating to Queensland military heritage. It is an all volunteer organisation and includes a research centre and library. Assistance in genealogy and research is offered to the public free of charge.

Hervey Bay Regional Gallery

The Gallery is situated in the town's CBD. It is easily accessed and because of the closely situated University and the connecting Library, the Gallery has a wide range of viewers from the community.

Harrisville & District Historical Museum

The museum is housed in a 100yr old weatherboard home, school and display sheds. A highlight is one of only two remaining Stiger Vortex Rain Guns (used in the 1902 drought).

Maleny Light Horse Museum

The Maleny Light Horse Museum was built to house and display items of uniform, weapons, equipment, photographs, military records and memorabilia of the Australian Light Horse and associated mounted units.

Douglas Shire Historical Society Inc

The Building is of prime importance, a lone survivor in a commercial town. Visitors, national and international can discover the classic wild west adventure saga of our history.

Killarney & District Historical Society Inc.

The Killarney and District Historical Society Inc., has been in operation for about 5 years, it has a small membership of about 30. The Society's rooms are called the Heritage Centre, and consist of the two rooms and a strong room that were the business area of a bank built in 1913.

Gallery Hinchinbrook

Gallery Hinchinbrook was opened in June 1999 by the Hinchinbrook Shire Council and is housed in the TAFE-Library complex also opened in 1999. It is therefore a very modern and highly secure exhibition room boasting specifications of international standard.

St Helena Island

The museum is situated in the restored Deputy Superintedents Quarters. The displays depict the lives and personal experiences of both prison staff and their families as well as the prisoners.

Perc Tucker Regional Gallery

Perc Tucker Regional Gallery is a dynamic visual arts centre with a significant collection of north Queensland art.

Reef HQ

Following a major refurbishment, Reef HQ reopened in July 2002. Reef HQ is operated by the great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority to enhance community understanding, appreciation, experience of and support for the Great Barrier Reef and the Marine Park.

Bundaberg Arts Centre

Flecker Botanic Gardens

The Flecker Botanical Gardens are the only Wet Tropical Botanic Gardens in Australia. The gardens aim to display tropical plant species of ornamental, economic cultural and conservation value for educational, recreational and scientific purposes with emphasis on endangered species.

Claremont

Claremont is an early stone villa built by John Panton, an Ipswich merchant, in 1858. In the early 1870's it was the home of George Throne, parliamentarian, and a centre for social life.This house is under restoration and is partially decorated with furnishings dating from the 1870's.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Where the largest collection of Aussie wildlife roams free on 27 hectares of lush gardens and bushland, only metres from Currumbin Beach.

National Trust Heritage Centre

The historic houses complex displays on one site three typical North Queensland houses. These are a simple miner's cottage c.1884, a comfortable villa residence c.1888 and a farmhouse c.1921.

Cooktown Powder Magazine

The Cooktown Powder Magazine was built in 1873-76 to store gunpowder destined for use on the Palmer goldfields. It stands at the far end of what was once the busy port of Cooktown well away from habitation.

Tent House

The Tent House is a timber framed house with a canvas roof under a free standing galvanised iron roof. This unusual environmental adaptation was once common in Mount Isa as 1930’s mining company housing.The Tent House contains furnishings and objects of historical interest from Mount Isa.

Logan City Historical Museum Society Inc.

Volunteer-run society and museum housed in the Old Butter Factory of Kingston. The history of the Butter Factory dates back to 1906 when a public meeting of over 150 dairy farmers was held to discuss the building of a co-operative dairy company.
