Double Irish chain set horizontally and vertically. Cotton, red on cream. The cream cotton backing is turned to the front for a border. Machine and hand pieced. Diagonal hand quilting. There is a padding of thin cotton. 1770 x 2250mm.
Annette Gero
Log cabin quilt made from wool pieces including some from army uniforms from World War 2. It is hand pieced and tied but not quilted. The padding is an army blanket.

Hand stitched hexagon quilt in a wide variety of patterned cottons. Made completely from dressmaking scraps from clothes made for the maker's children and grand children. The hexagons are randomly placed. There is no padding and the backing is fawn cotton. 2260 x 1430mm.

Wholecloth utility quilt, the top made of good quality cotton printed with posies of pink, blue and green flowers and leaves, the backing of plain cream cretonne, with a flap of plain cretonne, coming over the top side. Padding is made from blanket and jumper pieces stitched to a blanket base. Cretonne has signs of wear, and the cream backing has some staining. Top and backing machine sewn.

Hand pieced and hand quilted in diagonal lines. The padding is cotton and the backing is cream or white muslin. 2110 x 1230mm.

Hand pieced silk log cabin quilt. "The centre of this log cabin contains three ribbons, each with a crown, Queen Victoria and the date 1887. The four surrounding blocks contain the rose, the shamrock, the thistle and the leek, representing England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales." [Annette Gero]

Wholecloth quilt, with applique patterns in printed coloured cottons, of a entral flower basket in an oval leaf border, appliqued leaf and flower branches, a twisted cable border, wider band of leaf and flower branches, and a final border of applique Greek key motif.The base material is linen or similar with all applique very finely hand sewn. As the quilt grew the background material has been extended with tiny hand stitches.

Quilt of 50mm hexagons in random pattern. Hexagons are made from scraps of old materials with many variations of colours and patterns. One red print hexagon has "J.P." on it. The padding is an old eiderdown and the backing is calico.

"Fur rug assembled from squares each 25 x 25cm, cut from the central portion of selected, bark tanned Eastern Grey kangaroo skins. The fur top is composed of 27 full squares, 15 half squares and 2 quarter squares machine sewn together. Assembled top is set on the diagonal and is sewn down on to a thick commercially made 'Amanoket Superior' blanket."
